Meet the Seller: Amy Potenger from Gold Like Mountains

Introducing Amy Potenger from Gold Like Mountains

Where did your brand name come from?
I wanted a brand name which is a little poetic and dreamy, and has many possibilities. I like that it's very visual.

When did you begin making and what was your inspiration?
I've been making jewellery since I was a kid but started GLM a couple of months ago. My main inspirations are colour, geometry and nature.

What do you make?
Necklaces, earrings, bracelets and rings made from a mixture of new and vintage beads, and faceted polymer clay. Many pieces are unique and one of a kind.

What inspires you?
Colour, nature and geometry are my main inspirations, but I definitely draw from the world around me all the time!

What is your favourite book?
Probably Trainspotting by Irvine Welsh. I'm also really into modern American classics such as One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest and On the Road.

And your favourite food?
Vegetarian tom yum soup! With lots of coriander. I must learn how to make it.

Where do you get your online inspiration from?
Mostly art blogs such as booooooom.com, as I'm primarily an artist rather than a jeweller - my jewellery is an extension of my art practice, which is concerned with formal properties such as colour, surface and materials. I suppose you could say that making jewellery is my way of bringing my art to a wider audience.

When you are not at the Devonport Craft Market, where can people find your wares?
My website  or in my Felt Store
You can also like my page on Facebook.

Amy is offering everyone who mentions that the read this profile 10% off any purchase at the Devonport Craft Market this Sunday 4th March – I for one will be making a bee line to her table!
